Pets Need Forever Homes!

SAVE-A-PET at the Dothan Animal Shelter

SAVE-A-PET is a 501 ( c ) (3) non-profit charitable animal rescue organization. Our goal is to minimize the number of adoptable pets euthanized at the Dothan Animal Shelter and to increase awareness of the pet overpopulation problem in our community. We plan to meet that goal by:

Creating community outreach programs geared to educate and nurture responsible pet ownership in our community, including spay/neuter assistance.

Supporting the Dothan Animal Shelter with funding and volunteer labor, so that every one of our area’s misplaced pets will be given every opportunity to find a “forever home” where they will be safe, well cared for and most importantly loved. It is also our goal that all animals receive medical attention as needed, as well as good nutrition, socialization and training while housed in the Dothan Animal Shelter.

We do not receive funding from any organization or humane society….all support comes from the generosity of individuals like you. Your tax-deductible donation will help defray the costs associated with rescuing the dogs and cats.

How is SAVE-A-PET assisting the Dothan Animal Shelter?

Increasing adoptions through the use of regular volunteers at the Dothan Animal Shelter, and through our partnership with PETSMART Charities.

The Dothan PETSMART host an Adopt-a-thon for Dothan Animal Shelter puppies and dogs every Saturday. The shelter’s cats and kittens are up for adoption in PETSMART’s Love Center.

Increasing awareness of the Dothan Animal Shelter and it’s adoptable pets through our Pet of the Week spots on WDHN-18, The Dothan Eagle, and Petfinders.com.

Providing vaccinations for all dogs and cats entering the shelter.

Providing the funds for shelter pets needing medical care.

Promoting and funding spaying and neutering.
